I did that and it cost me $20 for a couple of minutes. Use the wartels all around the place (telephone booths) and you have a little meter in the booth and it tells you how long you have been talking for so you can work out how much it will cost. Just ask the guy how much it is for 1 minute (it is usually posted on the wall anyway) then go from there. Also I took my own mobile last time and bought a sim card from Matahari and SMS is so cheap and not much dearer to use your phone to call home rather than the wartels, but they are a bit cheaper.
