Most of us come on here to both give and get information, pull one another's legs, relive our past Bali experiences and look forward to our next.

Of course some of us [including me] sometimes fancy ourselves as a present day Sherlock Holmes and reckon that we've got someone else pretty well summed up. All part of the fun, as long as it doesn't turn nasty.

In regard to advertising, every time someone gives a recommendation for a hotel, restaurant, shop, driver etc, then that is "word-of-mouth" advertising, easily the best kind of advertising that any business can get. As I said on a previous occasion, a casual search of the archives would find me repeatedly recommending the Tjampuhan Hotel in such glowing terms that it could easily be assumed that I was the owner [I wish!].

I can understand the policy that this Forum not be allowed to become an advertising vehicle for all and sundry, after all we'd all welcome some more business, wouldn't we? But where is the line drawn? In my case for instance, I can presumably recommend Nick in Candi Dasa as a driver, because he is just a friend. But if I recommend driver Agus in the Kuta area, then that could be seen as inappropriate, because he is the brother of my son's Balinese wife. And I don't want to get myself banned, do I?
