I hope this is direct and not a contact in Amlapura, the nearest large town.

We stayed there several years ago in August and at that time there was no phone line or postal service to Amed, everything went through Amlapura. We were in Lipah village last August and I think that things have improved in that respect.

As the website indicates, the Vienna Beach Hotel has three types of accomodation, basic bamboo hut, better bamboo hut and brick and tile, in two storey blocks, with aircon and H&C shower etc. My preference would be the ground floor brick and tile, with verandah looking out over the narrow strip of garden to the beach. Straight out and on the coral reef in literally two or three minutes.

When we stayed there several years ago, we just turned up and bargained for a deal, which included an adequate cooked breakfast and two very good courses off the menu for dinner each evening. At that time they were half empty and we got a good deal. Last August they were booked out and we stayed at Hidden Paradise. It's the luck of the draw in that area in August, apparently due to the fact that it's the European holiday time. Probably other times reasonably quiet.

If I was thinking of staying there again, I would not try to book in advance, but would take a chance and just turn up and negotiate. Print their prices off their website, that's the maximum you should need to pay. If you can't get in, then there are plenty of other places to look at in Lipah village. Although the best snorkeling appears to be in front of Vienna Beach Hotel, anywhere in the village is only a short walk.
