I would be supprised if there has been an increase in handbag thefts. Most likely there has been an increase in women carrying handbags. I do not know why women insist on the practice of carrying handbags in Bali. To compound the problem a lot carry passports, credit card and heaps of money in them. A money bag worn under clothing either hung around the neck or waist is practically fool proof, but fools still follow their time honoured practices.
