1992, my first ever day in Bali, unpacked the cases to find I had forgotten to pack my thong's. No problem I said to my wife and our 2 friend's that were holidaying with us, we'll just go out on the street and buy a pair. Left the Mandira, turned right and soon found a stall with just what I wanted. I must say at this point we were only getting 1400Rph to the aussie dollar. So I spot a pair of thong's and ask how much, 25,000 she say's, I'm trying to quickly calculate this in my head, but bieng a bit flusterd as this was my first go at bargaining I couldent quite get it so I offered 10,000, she said bit more, anyway I eventually got this plain old pair of rubber thong's for 13,000rph, 9 Australian dollar's, and at this stage I thought I had done well saying to my wife and friend's I hope you's were watching cause you's will be doing this tomorrow while trying to work out why the 3 of them had a huge smile on their face. It's a fond memory and I gave the thong's away on the day we left. Cheers Ronnie.
