I have been twice on my own and thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of not having to fit in with anyone. You can get so much more done, go heaps more places and eat where you want. The one thing I love about Bali is "no plans".....so you can go out of the hotel and you have no idea when you will be back. You can explore all day on your own and have no-one hurrying you up cause they want to be somewhere else. It also forces you to make new friends (unless you are a complete hermit)!!
