Do a search the forum and type in Grand Mirage, Novotel, Villa Bintang or Aston and plenty of info on this area will come up. The jet skis will not stop you from swimming out front of the Hotel and if you want to go snorkling you can hire a glass bottom boat to take you out. Not sure of the prices for this but you will have to bargain hard. Ask others at the hotel what they paid. Say hello to Gun (waiter) in the beachfront restaurant for me and to Maria the lady who sells the sarongs and if you want a good cheap massage (30,000rp) ask for Agung who sits in a group just to the right of the Grand <Mirage. I think you would have to take your own snorkling gear but not sure. and tell him Christine and John from Brisbane will be there in May. Taxi fare into Kuta is about 35,000rp but we always give them 50,000rp. Any of the gold cabs will take you to Ubud but bargain for a price. There are also tour companies on the main street who can organise drivers for you or even the tour desk at the hotel but I think they will be dearer unless you can bargain.
