With regards as to whether you are able to stay longer than the 5 day package, my experience is yes. I travel twice a year to Bali and I find that the cheapest airfares are usually in conjunction with an accommodation package. The accommodation is normally pretty basic and is usually in the Kuta area. You have two choices you can not use the accommodation, or you can pay extra and upgrade it to another property. We don't use the accommodation as we have our own there. If it is your first time in Bali I would recomend taking the nights in Kuta, that way you get to see that area and do your shopping etc. and then move up to Legian or Seminyak for the remainder of your trip.
