I always take $100 a day with me (traveling solo), and come home with a few hundred left over.
Generally don't have to buy breakfast cuz it's included at the hotel and my taste in restaurants generally only runs to the cheaper to moderate places with a very occasional splurge. Plenty of bintangs, plenty of t-shirts to wear while there. And that also included buying sarongs, necklaces etc for the market stall I used to have. I'm guessing I would easily have gotten by on under $50 a day without the market stall purchases.
