I have stayed at both places and with children. I found the Patra to be a better hotel for families, bigger rooms and pools etc. But you can't beat the Dynasty for location.
When staying at the Patra we used to walk along the beach to the Dynasty or come out at the BAli HAi walk past the Risata and your on the start of the main strip.
But the Dynasty is location location location.
