Recently got back from Bali March 3rd. On our second day there my husband and kids went to waterbom park. When he got back to the motel, he could not hear in both ears. He bought some stuff over there at a drug store for water in ear 49,000. Tried it for days and it didn't work. We went back to the drug store and got something for glue ear 49,000 and that didn't work either. He went to his local drinking hole (The Pub) every afternoon at 4pm. Some Aussie locals there told him to use Peroxide. Which they did for him and that didn't work either. 10 full days of not hearing. He didn't have a problem with pain in the plane home. He went straight to the doctors when we got home. He had to have his ears syringed. He told the doctor what he had used and the doctor said never to use Peroxide. What he had done was got water in the ear. When he put his finger in his ear to clear it, he pushed the built up wax right down near his ear drum.

In the Air paradise in-flight magazine it says,
EAR INFECTIONS:
Swimming and water always play a big part in the holiday activities. Needless to say ear infections are common, however they are easy to avoid. Always ensure that your ear canal is clean and dry after swimming or bathing. If you are prone to ear infections (swimmers ear) a few drops of vinegar and alcohol or commercially prepared preparation (i.e aqua ear) in the canal after swimming, will prevent these occurring. Middle ear infections will need assessment by a medical practitioner, and appropriate treatment prescribed.

We read that on the way home.
