Any antibiotic (broad spectrem or narrow) should be taken after becoming ill.
In Timor leste there were a few cases of mental problems (depression/suicidal thoughts and two actual suicides) after using broad spectrum antibiotics (doxycycline and others) to prevent illness.
I was told to give mine up after pointing my firearm at my partner during a crazy episode one night that I cant remember.
I think use them if needed :-)
