I have an optus prepaid and rang optus and asked them to unlock my phone so I could take it to Bali. They did this, no charge, and when I got to Bali I purchased a sim card for 50,000rp (with 20,000 credit, this was enough to last for the 2 weeks we were there, but only to send sms )
