I am from Adelaide and I heard about it from a doctor at The Travel Bug vaccination centre.It is called Dukoral. It costs $100 for the course but if you have private extras you can claim some back - don't know how much yet.It is an oral drink taken 3 weeks before travel followed by a second dose 2 weeks later . It was originally designed for cholera but has seen to be beneficial in reducing the chances of BB. The literature says 52% protection but the doctor told us it was more like 60 - 70%
I guess you have to weigh up the odds- Pay for it and still get BB would be a "pain in the ---" but if you are one of the 60 -70 % that would be great. that is why I am keen to speak with anyone that has used it
