Any games you buy need a chip in the playstation so he probably would be a little disappointed anyway, if he thinks he can play newly purchased games. Our kids have been going since they were that age and would never have enough time to play playstation, they are much too busy playing outside.
Agree with the more room in your case for new games, it sounds like a great tradeoff.
