I am so sad to be in California. Our trip to Bali was incredible.
We are a retired, American couple who had travelled to Bali 6 times.
If you are an American and plan to go to Bali, check out
sayang holidays.com. They have great prices on packages including hotel and air and some extras. They are in San Francisco and we were very pleased with their hotels, etc.

We enjoyed the quiet of Tanjung Benoa, but if you really want to get away from it all the best place we have found (in the world) is in the north.
Poincianna Bungalows in Tejakula. They do not have e-mail yet, but they are getting it soon and they will notify me. I will then pass it on.
Their phone is 081 797 00526 ot 081-2398-6458. Right on the ocean, with wonderful food. They served our meals on the patio of our
4 room suite, which only cost us $50 per night. I had a massage on the patio over looking the ocean......heavenly.

I have saved the best for last. We had Komang as our driver. What a delightful man. Since we don't do water sports and have seen most of the temples and sights on the island, he took us around so we could see what has changed. I am a shopper and he and I went to Kuta, Ubud
etc. He translated, bargained and was a great shopping mate while my
husband relaxed around the hotel. He took us to the Poinciana Bungalows and picked us up. He had been a singer in clubs and has a beautiful voice. Ask him to sing his version of "Blue Suede Shoes"!
He also has memorized quite a few Sinatra songs if you are into that kind of music. We even went to the Restaurant where his brother sings
and Komang did a set. He was wonderful. He added so much to our trip, I can't imagine going there without him to tote us around. Being in an air conditioned car really helped us deal with the heat, too.
