I've just had a look at the 60 day visa stamped into my passport. It says: This visa must be used within 90 days from the date of issue.
Presumably this means that you must enter Indonesia within 90 days, but it could be ambiguous so I would check. In our case we went to Bali just over 2 weeks from date of issue and left Bali well within the 90 day period so it didn't matter.
The Indonesian Consulate people in Perth were very helpful over the phone-----and spoke good English-----so I'm sure you'll get the same good service in Melbourne.
