"our" driver Wayan would be happy to pick you up at Niksoma and take you to Ubud. He works up there driving for guests of Tjampuhan Hotel. But doesn't the CL cooking class start early - like dawn - to go to the market? Why not stay up there the night before and then you will be fresh for the next day. Wayan took us around several places to check out last year until we found what we were after. If you arrived early-ish afternoon - it takes a couple of hours to get from Legian to Ubud if you do a bit of sightseeing on the way - you could find somewhere to stay, do a bit of shopping, find a great cafe for dinner and hang out til bed. Most places up there have a pool to wash the dust off - and then on the CL Cooking school next morning. Wayan can show you where it is the day before - there are quite a few places to stay and eat in the same road as Honeymoon guest house and you may even get to stay there.

We just text him our requests - you could do that too, or phone him or drop him an email(with a couple of days notice).
We love Ubud and I hope you do too.
have fun,
S
