Hi my husband and I have just returned from 10 beautiful days in Bali.We stayed at the Dewi Sri Cottages and found them to be nice for budget accomodation, with all the basics plus in-house movies & free breakfast. The pool could be a bit larger for the amount of rooms they have but not many people spent a great deal of time in it anyway & they also have a mini-bar which is more of an inconvenience than anything. They charge double the price of anything you could buy on the street but if you take their items out of the fridge and replace them with yours they charge you for them anyway. So the whole time we were there we had a very stocked fridge & had to be prepared for anything to fall out every time we opened the door.
We did quite a few activites this time as we had my husband's father & his wife with us for their first time.(our third)so after the ten days we weren't really ready to come home because we hadn't had much time to relax. One fo the things we did was go on the Bounty Sunset Cruise. It was my husband's 30th birthday & we wanted to do something nice. With a normal price of $45 American dollars, our hotel had it on special for $30 Australian dollars which is actually half price so after being told not to waste my money, we decided to try it anyway. It was fantastic. I felt a bit seasick at the start so I didn't eat much of the buffet but everyone else said it was quite nice. The show was great & found it definitely worth the money. We also went to Taro elephant park & although we wouldn't do it again (because of the price) we certainly enjoyed ourselves.
Three of us had leather jackets made at Tailor 21,near Kuta Square, and they had no problem altering them until we were satisfied & at about $100 we couldn't really complain.
We also went to Yapenatim orphanage (I purchased alot of toiletries & school supplies at home and took them over as excess baggage) and it was certainly an eye opener. For kids that have it so bad they were all so happy. It certainly puts things into perspective. It's a worthwile experience & will visit another next time we go.
