I dont see why it is rude to recline your seat. Thats why it is there. Otherwise whats the point.
If the cabin crew are doing there job they will ask you to put your seat upright when it is time to eat.
Just done 70 hours of flying in 6 weeks. Every flight people where asked to put there seats up to eat.
Just my opinion.
