Hi Jane!! Stayed at the Kubu hotel in Candi da sa and The Tjampuhan in Ubud during our first visit to Bali in Feb/2005---both places very quiet--but--they're a little bit of a --the Kubu is built into the hill--but the gardens are wonderful--and if you get the bungalows at the top--you have a wonderful view of the ocean-but be prepared to walk up and down -as KES mentioned --Candi Da Sa is very quiet--the Tjampuhan is an absolutely beautiful place--they have two pools--wonderful surroundings--excellent breakfast--the spa is Ok--but--Ubud has many wonderful spas available--try and get the river rooms--or the A. Smith rooms--spacious and not as close to the road above--the river at the base of the resort is a wonderful walk the staff at both locations are very kind and helpful--you can check the archives for further comments--if you want to be alone and read a book, contemplate Life, or just kick back and relax with the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and surroundings --you won't be disappointed!!
