This place was fantastic. Busy all three nights we went there for a meal. Run by Aussies Kerry and Milton who really went out of their way to make you feel welcome and make sure your experience with them was memorable. The food was great - many options from tradition indonesian to seafood. The seafood platter is worth a mention at only 42000 rp (AU$6) it had a selection of prawns, calamari, fish - serving was big. Great value. Bintangs almost as cheap as you buy in the minimarts. We loved this place. Milton and Kerry are some of the nicest people you will meet. Worth a stop at least for one meal. Average price for a meal for 4 with drinks 240 000 rp.
Trattoria

Now who would have thought you could find great (and I mean great) Italian food in Bali. This place was a pleasant surprise. Lots of free appetisers. The crab linguine were delicious and all pasta is home made. The gelati was a bit expensive at around 30000 per serve but delicious. This was probably the most expensive place we ate at - meal for 4 including 2 courses each plus drinks (beer and softdrink and coffee) came to around 300,000 rp.
Warung Italia
in the same street at Seminyak as Bali Deli. As you turn into the street (think its Jl Kunti (?)) Warung Italia is on the right hand side not far from the corner of Jl Seminyak
Great for homestyle country italian cooking cheap as. Many dishes in a Bain Marie, from which you pick what you want. Selections included Lasagne, Eggplant parmagiana, chicken with rosemary, beans and potatoes etc. Also do fantastic homemade pasta.
Indus
Ubud (sorry, cant remember the address!)
Spectacular views over a ravine, and the most beautifully presented food we had on the whole trip. Offered a mix of traditional indonesian and modern cuisine. A good driver will know where this one is.
Zanzibar
along the beach heading north from the Jayakarta
Good for a quick lite lunch. Nothing to rave about but ok.
Finns Bar
next to Zanzibar
see comments for Zanzibar. We had lunch here, Fish and Chips, Vege salad, pasta and prawns with dirnks came to 220,000.
Teku Bali
Just up a bit from Zanzibar
Great spot for watching the sunset and the food was quite nice here. Kids started with corn on the cob, then garlic bread, tomato salad, spicy chicken, tuna with balinese spices and fettucine with drinks 280,000 rp.
Also tried Le Monde (legian) and Wayan and Friends both ok. Stay clear of Bali Qui II in Legian.
Any questions, please post.
Regards
Tania
