Hi there, My husband and I are from Auckland NZ. You guys are going to have soooo much fun, Bali is very addictive hence the reason we are going back in 4 weeks. It was our first trip over there last year and YES i got bali belly. Without going into the yucky details i will just say that when i got bali belly it wasnt so much i felt sick it was the fact that when you need a toilet...you need a toilet! no time what so ever ha ha. never found out what caused it as i had only had a salad at my hotel that day and that was washed in aqua (bottled water) But i have read on the forum that there produce in Bali has no chemicals sprayed on it, therefore it is something that our NZ bellys are not used to. My advise is to go to an Apotik which is our chemist and ask for Bali belly remedy (dia stop) but it is a very stong form. From then on i was sweet. Make sure you copy the name of apotik down as it is very hard trying to tell a taxi driver to take you somewhere to fix your bali.
The weather will be fine, we went in rainy season and it was 32/34 degrees, every day it would rain once for about 15 to 20 mins and then out the sun would come. I would have no probs going back in rainy season. We also looked at flying with royal Brunei but decided to spend the extra instead of losing a couple of nights either way in Brunei. You will be so sorry if you dont take NZ cash as our banks back here charge $5 per transaction and convert it at a worse rate and there is limits on how much you can draw on per time. This time we will not be making the same mistake we will be taking cash. When changing it at money changer (millions of them everywhere) triple check it, in YOUR hand before you leave the shop, it may take three times to get right but at least they wont be laughing at you after you leave. Have a blast.
