You are right about www.ubudvillage.com. Like everything in Bali, it started with good intentions, but soon deteriorated. I am affraid that the only solution to your "problem" is to wait until you get there. Remember, that in Bali it's "jam karet" (rubber time), and everything works by on this time. You and your party should adapt and accept this, otherwise you will become fustrated and most likely miss on having a good time. Remember "When in Rome do as the Romans."

Cremations are never advertized, except in front of tour agencies in tourist areas, few days in advance. The only way to have an idea of when cremations will occur is by reading the Balionese calendar, which I doubt you have access to or can read one.

If your only concern is about a schedule conflict, forget it: appointments can be changed, not only in Bali but in any other part of the world. So you have booked spa treatments: big deal, I am sure wherever you booked, they will be glad to accommodate you with a new time or day.

For "Odalans," you can consult the following website. It lists all the major ones and some of the most important holidays in Bali.

Have a good holiday with your friends.
