If you are like me and toyed with the idea of staying in Bali longer than your normal 30 day limit, the following info may be of interest. There are several types of visa's available that allow you to live in Bali for extended periods. Here are some facts that I obtained recently as a result of a casual inquiry.
RETIREMENT VISA
If you are over 55 years of age or older, and you are able to support yourself or are on a pension, and have no intention to work then you are entitled to retire in Indonesia, specially in
Bali on an Extended Temporary basis.

The following documents must be completed before the Visa is processed
Copy of your Passport (must be valid for at leas 1 year)
Proof of being a Pensioner or Bank Deposit Statements

Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Applicants who wish to include the spouse for a Limited Stay Permit Card, must provide their marriage certificate.
A Personal Guarantee Letter to guarantee to live in the provided and agreed accommodation in Indonesia (Bali in particular) with proof of rental documents.
Employment Letter Affidavit:- One must employ at least one Indonesian citizen for assistance, such as a nurse, housekeeper, or other kind of assistance. A letter stating the currently employed Indonesian person or the intention of employing such a person, with detailed terms and conditions.
