There's loads and loads of domestic tourists in Bali. Traffic is massive, getting a taxi can be nearly impossible and if you do get one it'll take the best part of an hour to do the trip that normally takes 10min (we found that when trying to get from Legian to Kuta Square).

I was there for Idul Fitri in 2003 and would never be there for it again if I could avoid it. I found a lot of the domestic tourists to be rude and inconsiderate both in the streets and at breakfast at the hotel. They wouldn't move aside on the narrow footpaths, they pushed in front (as in physically nudged you out of the way) at the breakfast buffet etc.

I got flamed for saying so in my JBR at the time, but I stand by what I said. I'd avoid it like the plague. Maybe I just had an especially bad lot staying at the hotel where I was, but it's made my mind up for future.
