Good luck if you are thinking of riding a push-bike. It's slightly hillier than Rotto. I think that everyone should see the volcano before it explodes again (every decade or two). As for where to get tickets, try through the guys who transferred you from the airport, the tourist office at your hotel or even hire a taxi for the day. It will probably cost you around A$25 - $40 however you do it. In fact, get a 1 day tour and see much more (still around $25-$40.
Enjoy Bali, it is worth every rupiah. I'm going back for my 3rd trip in 6 months. Pity it costs s much to get there.
