Go for it. Myself and wife have done day trips from Perth and also the overnighters. Make your shopping list before you go and give yourself a time limit in each of the shops you want to visit. We managed 38kgs of shopping in 8 hours. We finished the day off with a beautiful dinner and cocktails before heading to the airport for the flight home.
