Thanks to all who wrote, it is much much appreciated.
There were a few questions in there that I think I needed to answer.
As far as the planning went, it wasn't that extensive. I organised 2 day trips before I left, myself and my travel partners agreed we wanted to go to Waterbom park, there were particular restaurants that were raved about that we wanted to try (and did). It wasn't a day by day, hour by hour list of all that we had to do.
I relaxed a lot, I went out at night a few times, I met and spoke with some great locals, I shopped. I wandered the streets by myself and just took in the Bali atmosphere. But it was just different. After thinking about it since I posted, it may have also had a lot to do with my personal sitution at the time too.
As far as the Barong, I would only recommend the place to younger people (I am 26 and went with a 27 and 35 year old) who want to party who don't mind drunk people splashing them in the pool at 9 am when they are having breakfast. We even had to ask to be moved rooms because the girls staying above our room decided that they would have a dance party of sorts above us every night for 3 nights running until the early hours of the morning. It just wasn't for us, we are fun, out going people, but we have respect for other people who paid good money to be on a holiday too. If you want to party Bali is the place to do it, so go out and hit the clubs and run amok don't annoy your neighbours!!
As far as the Bali Hai went, I can't praise it enough, it was cleaner, the staff more pleasant, the breakfast was truly devine. Everything was super, I guess thats what you get for a few hundred dollars more.
Anyway thanks all for your advice. I have decided that I may head over to Thailand next trip. I really appreciate all you help. This forum rocks!!
