Some sources recommend vitamins of the B group. Usually B1, sometimes B2 or B6. I take a multivitamin containing all these and more and I still get bitten. I don't usually get bitten badly and usually the effects are minor and don't last long, but I don't think that this has anything to do with my vitamin intake.
I am very careful what I put on my skin and/or spray into the air that I breathe. There is a health warning on the use of DEET:
