The first time we went to Bali, I decided I didn't need to ever go back. The second time I got talked into it and hated it again. Totally Bali'd out. Then came "the bomb". We decided Bali needed our money more than Noumea did, so we went. I loved it! We had such a quiet, relaxing time it was wonderful.
We're going for the 5th time in May, and are very much looking forward to it. Have planned a few things, but if they don't get done, so what. We decided last year that we'd never go out 2 days in a row. We go out one day, then stay round the pool the next day. And maybe the next day after that as well. The trick is to do exactly what you want, when you want it. It's a bit like going to a party. The one you were looking forward to was a disappointment, whilst the one that came up unexpectedly was great fun.
Go again, but don't plan too much. Take each day as it comes.
