we stayed at puri in january (hubby me and 2y.o.) Donalds on the beach is nice, go to the beach, turn right go past beach girls shops and it is first or second eatery there. Also Stiff Chilli Sanur turn left at beach and walk for about 800m, right on the beach, waves lapping at your feet. Great pizza and Italian food.
Afternoon tea and coffee is really nice at the hotel's restaurant too.
We mainly went shopping further north along Jl Danau Tamblingan, but this is a nice stroll or about 3000 rp for 2 in a bemo.
If you get a taxi back from Denpasar or Kuta, just be careful that Jl Danau Poso is not still closed due to major road works - means that you will have to take a tricky detour and lots of streets down that end are one way.
