Patra Bali, formerly Patra Jasa and Pertamina Cottages. No Direct beach, just a crushed coral promenade about 2 meters high. At high tide the waves break over that wall. Patra Bali is right next (on right hand side)to Bali Hai Resort where the beach proper starts and continues past Kuta and Legian to Seminyak and beyond. In the opposite direction is Ngurah Rai airport only 500 - 1000 meters away and it is great if you like watching planes landing and taking off (we do). The hotel underwent amajor renovations from 2002 - 2004 and reopened last August and one of its first guests was George Dubya. I believe it has some if not all Gov ownership.
We stay at Bali Hai and did an extensive tour of Patra Bali, had a drink in one of the bars (very expensive) however, the hotel and grounds are fabulous, extensive, great pools and with excellent views. not far away are 5 good restaurants Ma Joly, Green Garden,
S A Cafe and Lotus Tavern. Ma Joly is a must for that "special" occasion while the other 4 fall into that good food, inexpensive and friendly staff category. They are all just 5 - 15 mins walk away.
