As discussed below, while I suggest you take all the necessary precuations regarding using your card (the same as you should in Australia etc) it really can't be avoided in most circumstances.
Internal finance industry figures in Australia suggest that 60% of all credit card fruad comes direclty from inside the banks and financial intermedaries themselves, so nothing is going to protect you from the baulk of the fruad that takes place.
Ask yourself, why do the banks tell you when they give you a place they think the fraud occured it was probably just one bad employee and not the busineess itself.
Answer, becuase they know most of the time it has come from within.
