Although I have not done it in Bali, I have in other countries. In my opinion (which is a very strong one on this matter)I believe it is not safe for children in your age bracket. There are just too many variables.
Was going to also suggest Waterbom Park.
Another suggestion is a half day at the Le Meridian Nirwana Hotel. They have a couple of great water slides the children can play on, (as well as some pool basketball hoops etc.) while you relax in luxurious surroundings.
Over the phone they told us we would have to pay about $10 each, but there was no-one there to take our money:)
A a good view over Tanah Lot at sunset (during happy hour) wound up our day nicely.
