Was looking through my bank statements the other day and was shocked at how much fees ive been paying, when withdrawing from ATMs in Bali/indo especially when I convert it to rrp.almost rrp 40000 (about $5 au)a pop...with a million or so limit, each time thats a few trnsactions each trip...and I find the whole travelers check thing a hassle.
I also transfered some money so my girl could get a passport the other day and I was charged with a $27 au fee...what a joke.
Might sound tight but it all adds up and the banks don't deserve it especially, when I think how much my indo girl earns in relation to how much I end up paying the bank each trip to indo in bank fees.
So does anyone have a good system in Place????
Thnking about getting a bank account over there (B.C.A)
I know some ppl here are using them....Whats there fees like?
Is it worth it?,any pros and cons? (I go at least once and up to four times a year)
I see they have a website/online banking.
Anyone using this?
Looks like could be the way to go...transfer money across online, before I go(transfer via an online bank such as ING if they still want to sting u for direct transfers from OZ bank to Indo bank)
Also anyone know if westerners(bule)can get credit cards there?
As i know there intrest rates are super low.May even be able to use over in Oz...instead of our own and pay off online.
Anyway love to hear ppls thoughts and what charges you pay your bank per transation from overseas ATM,s? :)
