We did a downward bike ride from Mt Batur with our kids - 7 and 14 and my husband, who is a real cyclist here in Sydney, and myself (and all my cycling is usually the very easy 5-10k leisurely ride). It was cool in the morning riding from Mt Batur and then it warmed up. We did it in June July school hols last year and we are doing a similar one this year in September. Both kids rode all the way about 18ks but all down hill. We booked from the hotel lobby with the same people who do the white water rafting. The bikes varied inthat some were geared but the smaller kids ones weren't. Bumpy in some places, but riding past rice paddies, coffee bushes etc etc was great fun.
