I guess some people here on this forum would really appreciate your reflections regarding the one or other topic, I would be glad to see some more postings from you.
Regarding the food discussion, of course when you compare local food, then Thailand is doubtless much better than Bali, but I think the matter here are restaurants or tourist restaurants, if you like so.
There are also a lot of very good restaurants on Bali, like everywhere else and like everywhere else the standard of these restaurants is more or less related to the price, you get what you pay for.
I agree with the original post due the condition of 'restrooms', my grand-grandmother who worked in a hotel always said: 'Whenever you visit a new restaurant, have a look at first into the toilets, the way they deal with their toilets gives you a good impression how they will handle the kitchen!'
I think there is some truth in it, although I don't think, scribbling on mirrors will help to improve anything.
