is my passion but that alone won't guarantee you to bring in the punters... many bars/nightclubs already doing the same that come and go... look at Seminyak - some bars come and go in a month(not quite but speak to locals and ex pats) but the idea of following your dream is definitely worth pursuing!! I would imagine research will be your most valuable tool... perhaps not jsut looking at what has worked in Bali so far because you need to more innovative than that but look on the net at other resort places around the world such as Phuket, Koh Samui and even Ibiza to see what is bringing in the punters there... what sort of crowd do you want - one around the same age as your sons or older people who like the music you are playing???
do you have to sell up to go... would be nice to have something to fall back on... also your sons sound fantastic and supportive but Bali might not be as deep rooted in their hearts as yours and they may want to move on... so be prepared for that... once you have solid research and as others have said the right partner... you certainly hear the horror stories then go for it!!!! How exciting! Hope I have not been too negative! Also perhaps try an ex pat forum?
