I just got back (2 days) from 1st Bali trip. We had a package and stayed at The Oasis next to the Aston Bali. It was great. It wasn't as posh as the Aston Bali, but the service was fabulous, the morning buffet bordered on spectacular. We were the only American couple for the 1st 10 days and were treated was special guests because so few Americans are willing to travel so far. If you go to their web site they have a special right now and it may be agood deal for you. If you need additional information or the links let me know. They have a shuttle 3 times a day to Kuta, slippers, umbrellas, coffee and tea fixings in the room with the most fantastic immersion heater I've every seen. (I'm 62 and a 4am tea drinker and a good immersion heater is a big deal to me) The desk is incredibly helpful with arrangements. On the down side the building is architechularily completely unlike any other I've seen. Externally it is quite plain looking (I was told it is owned by Muslims or Christians and therefore wasn't Bali Hindu style contuction, but I think it just kept costs down) It is perfectly situated for inexpensive dining (We never ate at the hotel besides free breakfast), within 100 meters in either direction are at least 6 places I would happy eating in every day. There is a good laundry every 30 meters and as long as you don't use the close by money changers (thieves) you've got it all. There is even a reliable, honest money changer 600 meters away. I would happily stay there again and so would my wife.
