being in such a relationship & therefore meeting & keeping in touch with many in smilar situations, I can honestly say that of the closest group of friends we catch up with regularly, they are all mixed couples. Some Balinese ladies & their hubbies & some Balinese guys & their wives... We get together regularly the boys will cook & look forward to it, we sit out side eating, drinking & the boys all play instruments & we sing along like we used to in Bali...
In all honestl=y there are about 12 couples, they all appear to be happy & most have children the kids all play nicely together & we all enjoy life but we talk about the days gone by in Bali...
I will tell our daughter the same as what my parents said to me, after I had been in a very violent relationship & then left to Bali to sort out my life, I was 21! They told me on the day I was leaving (they hated my B/f understandably) that love should be about someone loving you no matter what, where how or why...
A few years of living in Bali for 8 months of the year & working in Oz for the next 6 months & then back to Bali for 8 months I met guys, I got burnt by some & I burnt some... I decided I was gonna live & enjoy life... When I met my now hubby, my parents were not jumping over the moon, he had a job at the airport, had no savings, OK English, visa's would have to be applied for etc & a whole lot of other problems they could forsee! (plus the common talk of Kutacowboys) They came to Bali & met him, saw how he loved me, would do anything for me & was never violent, angry or anything negative!!!
They then said "you have our blessing", because lack of money, a difficult future in regard to visa's etc, will still be 100 times better than the life you were heading down...
We will tell our daughter/s To love with all you have if you get hurt, get back up & love again.... But only give your love to someone that loves you too!
My parents & my hubby are very close & are very proud of him & his efforts & what we have achieved in OZ...
We don't get to place a name tag on guys in OZ etc... Can't call them Kutacowboys, or similar can we???
Just coz you can label them doesn't mean they are all the same, I am not one of few succes's, Truly there are many!!!
