stay again in the middle of March - can't wait!!! They are absolutely wonderful. The service is excellent and attention to detail superb. However, they did forget to book us into a restaurant one night, but we did manage to still get in. Did not use their driver at all, but I'm sure they're good. We found it easy to get taxis, they can order one for you or do what we did, which is walk to the street out the front of Alu Bali & catch a taxi - they're everywhere.
You won't need to worry about having lunch anywhere as the breakfasts are spectacular and ENORMOUS. We also had dinner there on our first night & it was very good too.
You are within walking distance of fabulous restaurants - just around the corner from what is called Bali's 'eat street' (Jalan Laksmana) - there are soooo many fabulous places to eat along here in all price brackets (have a look at the Bali Eats website - type in Kerobokan and you'll see what I mean - www.balieats.com). Pretty much next door to Alu Bali is The Living Room restaurant, then a bit further up is Hu'u and then a little further on is Petitenget Temple and La Lucciola - all an easy walk.
Unfortunately, the beach is not the best - was really polluted when we were last there and the surf & water is pretty treacherous (lots of strong rips, etc) - I'd take care if you want to swim here. There are hawkers, but not really a problem. Don't forget, you do have a small pool in your villa for cooling off as well as sun lounges for sunbaking.
Hope this has answered your questions, but if you want to know anything else, let me know. Happy travelling :)
