Memory card prices vary massively from shop to shop. Go to Harvey Norman and pay massive prices. Go to Duty Free and pay whatever they deem appropriate, but usually not fantastic. Go to some small margin retailers such as MSY or digitialcamerawarehouse.com.au, you pay fair prices. Go to ebay and get very good prices, but with some added risk. That is, shonky seller, lost in post, warranty etc.

My recommendation is to buy in Singapore. I reckon you'd get a good deal there, but be prepared to lose it it breaks.

The size card you get will depend on the megapixels on your camera and the quality settings you choose. For most people, 256mb will be enough. For the more enthusiastic, 1gb will not be enough. Whatever the case, if you run out of room, there are plenty of places that will copy them to a cd for you.
