I think the Mandira must have been built about 1982, as I came across it in 1983 and the swimming pool was on the edge of the beach. They constructed their gardens after that. The skeleton of girders was there then, but I do not think they were used to build the Padma. You certainly have revived memories for me as I now remember there was a coconut plantation around the Mandira and Garlic Lane and Jalan Padma were just tracks. Loved the read.
