Where to stay in Bali

Myself and my girlfriend are looking to visit Bali in July/August time. We are both mid twenties so would like somewhere fairly lively at night but relaxing in the day, with plenty to do. We were thinking either Nusa Dua or Sanur.

Any help or information would be great
