I haven't stayed but booked for March. I've asked heaps of questions about the Pelangi on the forum and had nothing but fantastic reviews (Try a search). The hotel offers a shuttle bus into Kuta a few times a day, but not return. Apparently very cheap but taxi and a lovely walk along the beach (depending on your fitness level!).
If you have a look at their website www.pelangihotel.com it shows quite a few photos. Or scroll down this page and someone was asked which was nicer - pelangi or MBR, everyone that replied said Pelangi!
Pelangi is also in the very main distict of restaurants and I think is almost on the corner of JL Double6 - but don't quote me on that!
