I don't drink beer and neither does my lady friend. As others have mentioned, some people find Bintang "different" to other beers and it's certainly worth a try. If we are particularly thirsty, we will get a large Bintang, about 10,000 and enough lemonade to dilute it 2 to 1 [2 parts lemonade]. Or you may find Bali Cider worth a try.

We found arak and Coke, with ice, to go very nicely with meals and also as a general thirst quencher. Arak is also very nice with lemon and honey, but the effects are likely to set in before your thirst is satisfied. Arak is about 20,000 to 25,000 for a 700 ml bottle, but naturally more if you buy it in a bar or restaurant. Coke, lemonade etc is so cheap that the price is virtually irrelevant.

Have a look in a supermarket and you may feel like sampling some of the local wines or spirits. Many of them are so inexpensive that it is really no big deal if you don't want to buy them again. There are some traditional wines and there are also some wines made with Australian influence, ie Hatton. I can drink Hatton Rose. Some people would call that "undrinkable", but the same people would perhaps go for some of the award winning Australian dry wines which I could hardly get down my throat.

Most of the prices don't really stick in my mind, which is a fair indication that they're very reasonably priced.
