Bopgirl has covered most points but I'd just like to add that the most important thing when applying for a tourist visa to Aus is to make sure you emphasize as many ties as possible to Indonesia. The more you make it look that he has to return to Indonesia the more likely he will get it. If he has land and a house in his name then take the documents to prove it, a secure and good job in Indonesia will help lots and of course a healthy bank balance looks good. I would not mention anything about being a boy friend, as that will only hinder your chances. Good luck.

My wife was refused a visa 16 years ago just before we got married, as I failed to prove her connections with here, although we had been engaged for two years before. The irony was they gave my brother and mother in-law visas so they could come to our marriage in Aus, even thought the bride was not going to be allowed in. Luckily it all ended in happiness once I could prove we had land here and were building a small hotel and had return tickets for both of us.
