phones are all locked to their particular newtwords - ie Telstra & Optus.Vodafone is the only network that is NOT locked so you can put any sim card in it & it will work.I only found this out only recently from my friend Bopgirl - And no neither of us work or have any connections to Vodafone <LOL>
She bought some of the cheapie Vodafone deals where you get the phone & $30 credit. In effect the phone only costs $9.We bought 2 ourselves so the 3 of us could each have a phone to keep in touch with each other because we often each go our separate ways for a few hours when in Bali.
I believe if you are on a contract in Australia with a mobile phone that you can put a Bali sim card in & it will be fine except for CDMA phones which don't work at all in Bali.We never worry about getting International roaming on our Aussie phones for Bali because it's too expensive. Also remember IF you take your Aussie phone with you & get international roaming that any time anyone calls you from Australia you also pay for the call!
