here goes again!!!
Just remembered on Monday night at Bali Rani they have a poolside buffet BBQ with balinese dancing show. Good value. Cost 75000 including 1 bintang. We figured we could feed the kids and give them some culture at the same time. Boys 15 & 16. Not really there scene. As soon as the dancing started they wanted to go but we made them stay. Only went for half an hour so not bad. Even had audience particiapation in the last dance. Proved who had been watching!! 16 yr old had to go up and he had a huge time. Didn't quite get his fingers right but gave it a go!! Lucky he had had a bintang.
Got recognised by Paradiso from the forum at dinner. Good to meet you Paradiso. Hope you had a good time.
Tuesday we were off to Lembongan Island. Booked and paid for at travel agent before we left. Told it was cheaper to get here in Perth but don't think so now. Cost $330au for Family but with 3 adults. We chose the reef cruise which means we stayed on the pontoon. Highlight of the trip over is the snorkelling demo on the top deck. A couple of guys do like the airline hostess when they do there demo. Very funny. A must see!!!
POntoon was great. I thought it might get a bit boring so took a book. Never even got it out. Snorkelling was great. The reef is awesome. Boys loved the banana boat and slide. We madde them come onto the island for the tour. (another dose of culture) Very interesting. If you thought seaweed smells bad mix it with the pigs taht live at the bag of there houses. Very primitive. A couple of stores there. Cheap prices didn't really need to barter to much.
Food on the boat was excellent. boys didn't think so as much cos it was there first meal that didn't involve fries.
Wednesday- Australia Day. Kept a low profile. Got taken to Melasti street. Had brunch at Assie Bali. Got to watch Alicia Molik. We walked up to Legian street and then slowly down legian to Kuta Square. Discvered Timezone in the middle which took up an hour. boys loved it and it was cheap.
By the end of the walk we jsut did whatever we could to avoid the hawkers. So much so that we didn't buy things we wanted to. Could have got oakleys for 7000.
Tea at the stadium sports bar tonight. Just as nice as papas and cheaper. Ceasar salad was excellent here also. Boys had pork ribs and they were delightful. With fries of course!! Hubby said oxtail soup was superb.
Boys wanted basketball shoes at the And ONe store next to here. If you are into bball (we are) good shop providing your foor is not too big. Could have got some for $50au but didn't have size 11. Worth a look at though if kids feet are normal.($150au at least)
Thursday Our big tour day. I have been planning this for a while especially with ideas from the forum.
To Singaraja and return in a day. Ended up deciding to make a drivers day rather than a recommended one. (Sorry Di but i should have rung Buda). Our hotel had a drivers desk out the front so we used these guys. Someone differnt everytime cos we never really found one that we had to go with again.
We went with Ketut!!
He couldn't drine well. Up the hills in 2nd!!
Oh well we got ther and back and had a good day.
Started off at the Begula Markets. We were the first ones there. Probably got ripped off but oh well.Frustrating when they all want you to buy from them. Put our foot down eventually. Off to the temple there. Oh how beautiful. Green lawns lots of trees and plants right on the lake. Glorius. Better than Kintamini!!
Next stop was on the side of the road to feed some monkeys. Bought peanuts and bananas. They were cute.
Now for the waterfall. I was looking forward to Munduk. The driver wasn't keen. Wanted to go to Git Git. I wasn't budging and then he said what you want to do cos here is git git!! Damn. Might as well go in. Went in the second entrance. Bit of a walk but spectacular.
The water was cold. Got conned by made who walked us up for money. We were going to give him 50th cos he was good then he starting asking for money. I said give 50 and he wanted more. Got peeved with us though cos we wouldn';t but from his sisters shop. Went off him after that!! Git git was worth it though. Ketut said not as much water in Munduk. As it turned out we went past Munduk and that restaurant on the way back. Didn't stop though cos it was getting too late.
Up through Singaraja to Lovina for luch. Diappointed it was a buffet at Karina rest. We didn't even go on to the beach though cos the hawkers were sitting there yelling to us.
Next stop was the hot springs. They were beautful. Very refreshing.
Take your own towels. We forgot, Hawkers wanted to sell us towels then wanted us to give them to them on the way out.
Home time. It was getting late by now and 3 hours to get home.
Scenery is some of the most spectacular i have ever seen. The clouds floating around us. The lake. The mountains. Awesome.
Home at 7pm. We left at 8am. Huge day. Boys got KFC (handy at Centro centre) and we ate at the Bali Rani Halson cafe. My hubby had oxtail soup again and i had guess a ceasar!!
Stay tuned for part 3.
